Maguffee to be honored

A long-time AV School District R2 principal and superintendent will be honored with a special get-together on Friday, September 15.

The event will highlight the Maguffee Years - 1965-1988. Those were the years that J. D. Maguffee served the school district as a principal (1965-1970) and as a superintendent (1970-1988). All in all, Jim Maguffee dedicated 31 years of service to education.

The celebration will be held at the Arcadia Valley Elks Lodge in Pilot Knob on September 15 beginning with a mixer from 3 p.m.to 5 p.m. and dinner following from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The evening will continue after the meal from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with music by the DejaVu band and AVHS alumus Barry Helms.

Members of the Arcadia Valley School staff are invited to gather together and reminisce about their days striving to reach students with knowledge about the world and life, attending a huge variety of committee meetings, joining the students and community as each Fall Festival, Play Day, sports activity, music and art presentation and many other activities were celebrated.
