Letter to the Editor - Working for the Middle Class

Dear Editor,

Back in June House Republicans released a proposal they said would balance the budget in nine years, making large cuts to entitlement programs, including Medicare.

To me, that serves as an expression of Republicans’ priorities at a time of rising deficits. Even though our growing indebtedness has been worsened by their own policy decisions - including the new tax law!

Arkansas Republican Steve Womack of the Budget committee was quoted:

“The time is now for our Congress to step up and confront the biggest challenge to our society. There’s not a bigger enemy on the domestic side than the debt and deficits.”

Well, I sure hope the Democrat running against him wins that Arkansas election.  And I gotta hope some Republican voters across the nation wake up and start voting Democrats into office if they want to keep their benefits intact. And their children’s benefits, or their grandchildren’s for that matter. Or do they care about future generations?

It is horrible that Republicans always want to take money away from hard-working folks and give it to the uber-wealthy while Democrats continue to look out for the middle class.
