Rosemary Ann Hartung

Rosemary Ann Hartung of Caledonia passed away on Friday, Nov. 23, 2018 at Potosi Manor. She was 86.

She was born on Sept. 7, 1932 in St. Louis to Bernard R. Steinhoff and Alma E. Hannebaum.  

She was baptized at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Pagedale.  

She was confirmed at St. Andrews Lutheran Church on April 14, 1946.  

She attended Pershing School in University City, Hanley Jr. High, and University City High School, receiving a diploma on June 5, 1950.

Rosemary was united in marriage to Harley Henry Hartung on October 5, 1957 at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in University City. 

The marriage was graced with three children. 

Rosemary worked many different bookkeeping positions including the Federal Government, Rice Stix Whole Sale Manufacturing, and for the family business. She was proud of her homemaker skills.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Harley Hartung; their sons, James H. Hartung of Bowling Green,  John C. Hartung of Hillsboro; four grandchildren, Benjamin L. Hartung of Charleston, SC, Anne Marie Hartung of St. Louis, Samuel J. Hartung of Bowling Green, and John Tyler Hartung of Hillsboro.  

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Kenneth J. Hartung; two sisters, Irene E. Hewitt and Vera C. Jacobi; and her brother, George B. Steinhoff.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018 at 11 a.m. from Bryson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lonnie Eatherton officiating.  

Visitation began at 10 a.m. prior to the service. Interment was in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Bismarck.
