Ironton residents seriously injured in accident

Two Ironton residents were seriously injured in a one-car accident in Washington County.

The accident occurred at 8:10 a.m. on Christmas Day on Missouri Highway 21, south of Buford Road, according to a report by the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Kaylie N. Wells, 22, of Ironton was driving a 2002 Pontiac Firebird northbound on the road when she failed to negotiate a left curve and traveled partially off the right side of the road, the report stated.   Wells overcorrected to the left and traveled off the left side of the road, striking a ditch.

She received serious injuries and was taken by medical helicopter to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.

A passenger in the car, Taylor M. Rodgers, 25, of Ironton, received serious injuries and was taken by medical helicopter to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.

Neither of the injured were wearing seat belts, the report stated.
