James Sackett

James Alfred Sackett of Russell, AR, died on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019 at his home.  He was 87.

He was born on March 3, 1931 in Great Bend, PA, to the late Donald and Maddie Louise (Preston) Sacket.

James was a plant manager for Quick Point for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and he especially loved to go square dancing with his wife; they traveled all over the state and out of state to different dance halls.

James served in the Army and Marine Corp and was a Korean War Veteran. He also was a long time member of the Russell Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Wanda (Hartwick) Sackett; children, Debbie (Sackett) Blevins (Joe), Donnie Sackett, Jimmy, Dennis (Ruth), Jerry Sackett and Terry Anderson; son-in-law, Bryan Evans; grandchildren, Desarae (Blevins) Green, Megan (Evans) McCabe, Alexis and Hayleigh Sacket, Christina Bryan and Jordan Sackett; great-granddaughter, Thea Green; sister, Gloria Coffin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cheryl Evan; grandson, Jessie Blevins; and brothers, Rex, Jack, Eddie and Donnie Sackett.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital or to the Cheryl Evans Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Bald Knob High School.

The family received friends on Saturday, February 2 from 1 - 3 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Bald Knob, AR. A Celebration of James’ Life immediately followed at 3 p.m.
