Ruble named MO Rookie of the Year

Wayland Ruble

A young man from Annapolis has been named “Rookie of the Year” for Missouri by the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA).

Wayland Ruble, the son of Mike and Angie Ruble of Annapolis (and under the tutelage of his Aunt Patti Walker), started showing horses barely seven months ago. Last June, he participated in a Youth Quarter Horse Show, showing at halter HR Elusive Secret (“EZ”), a three-year-old Quarter Horse gelding owned by Walker.

He went on to win Grand Champion in other shows, earning 50 points to qualify for a Superior Award from AQHA.

Wayland has traveled over 6,000 miles and has shown in seven different states.

With the Rookie of the Year award came a trophy belt buckle with his name on it and a new pair of Justin boots.

Wayland also earned the distinction of being 3rd in the Nation in the Youth Division (11 and under).

His list of awards includes: numerous Grand Champions, 4th place at the Youth World Show overall, 3rd place at the Youth World - level 2, Superior Award, Rookie of the Year for Missouri and 3rd in the Nation in Youth Division 11 and under.

“What a year to remember,” said Walker.
