Joseph Rayfield

Joseph Dewey Rayfield, son of the late Winifred Faulkenberry Rayfield and Dewey Rayfield, was born in Waterloo, Illinois, on June 18, 1931.

He departed this life at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, on Tuesday, June 4, 2019. He was 87.

On August 6, 1952, in Piggott, AR, Joseph was united in marriage to Eleanor Wolff and to this union four children were born.

She preceded him in death on Jan. 6, 2005. He was later united in marriage to Pearlie Mae Underwood on March 10, 2008 and she preceded him in death on Sept. 29, 2016.

Joseph was a veteran of the United States Airforce and served during the Korean conflict.

He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the VFW. His hobbies included fishing and traveling with his wife, Eleanor. Joseph was a successful business owner and he loved music and dancing. He was an avid Cardinals fan as well as a strong critic of his beloved team.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, and two sisters, Virginia Ryan and Annabelle Schulte.

Joseph is survived by five children, Yvonne Rayfield of Park Hills, Rhonda Degrant of Doe Run, Joseph Rayfield, Jr. of Middlebrook, Michael Rayfield of Mehlville, and Jim Burmeister of Middlebrook; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Joseph will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will mourn his passing.

Visitation was held on  Monday, June 10 at 10 a.m.                                                                                                            

A Masonic Service  was held at 12:15 p.m.                                                                                                                        

A Celebration of Life followed at 1 p.m. at McSpadden Funeral Home                                                            

The speaker was Yvette Woods.

Burial was in Rayfield Cemetery.

Pallbearers included Johnny Underwood, Rick Norden, Scott Bryant, Matt Rayfield, Albert Wolff and Robert Wolff.                                                                                                                                 

Arrangements were by McSpadden Funeral Home, Lesterville.

In lieu of flowers: VFW or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
