Leota Elizabeth Ford

Leota Elizabeth Ford of Annapolis passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2019.  She was 95.

Leota was born on April 5, 1924 in Des Arc, a daughter of the late William Thomas and Malvina Markham Rayfield.

On July 3, 1942, she was united in marriage to Delian Ford, who preceded her in death on July 18, 1998.

To this union was born two children, Floyd D. Ford and Linda DeAnna Kemp, both of Annapolis.

Also surviving are two grandchildren, Scottie Kemp and Lucy Alcorn; five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Megan, and Hannah Kemp, and David and Chad Alcorn; one great-great-grandchild Kaden; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Earl, Floyd, Paul, Carter, and James Rayfield; two sisters, Clara Ann Scaggs and Iola Rayfield; a son-in-law, Bud Kemp; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Ford.

Leota was a 1942 graduate of Annapolis High School, and a member of the Free Spirit Baptist Church. She worked as a secretary for the South Iron District and Postal Clerk at the Annapolis Post Office.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 6 at 2 p.m. from Free Spirit Baptist Church under the direction of Cole Family Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Sale officiating.

Visitation began on  Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church.

Interment was in the Annapolis Cemetery.
