Leo Leslie Brewer

Leo Brewer

Leo Leslie Brewer passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis.  He was 76.

Leo was born in Reynolds County on Oct. 17, 1942, the son of the late William Jennings Bryan and Ollie Mae (Wadlow) Brewer.

Leo graduated from Annapolis High School in 1960. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Leo worked as a surveyor with his brother Buell. He retired from the Reynolds County Road and Bridge Department. Leo was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the National Rifle Association (NRA). He enjoyed making knives, leather crafting, mechanical work and hunting.

Leo’s greatest joy was spending time with his Lesterville friends.   

Leo was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Elmer, Buell, Earl and Ralph Brewer; and one great-nephew.


Joseph Dewey Rayfield

Joseph Rayfield

Joseph Dewey Rayfield, son of the late Winifred Faulkenberry Rayfield and Dewey Rayfield, was born in Waterloo, Illinois, on June 18, 1931.

He departed this life at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, on Tuesday, June 4, 2019. He was 87.

On August 6, 1952, in Piggott, AR, Joseph was united in marriage to Eleanor Wolff and to this union four children were born.

She preceded him in death on Jan. 6, 2005. He was later united in marriage to Pearlie Mae Underwood on March 10, 2008 and she preceded him in death on Sept. 29, 2016.

Joseph was a veteran of the United States Airforce and served during the Korean conflict.

He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the VFW. His hobbies included fishing and traveling with his wife, Eleanor. Joseph was a successful business owner and he loved music and dancing. He was an avid Cardinals fan as well as a strong critic of his beloved team.


William “Bill” Preston Farley, Jr.

William “Bill” Preston Farley, Jr., also known as “Happy” of Middle Brook, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, June 13, 2019. He was 84.

He was born on Nov. 4, 1934 in Belleview to the late William, Sr. and Jackie Winters Farley.

On June 6, 1987, Bill was united in marriage to Marvine Krech, who survives.

Other survivors include seven children, Christine M. (Farley) DeChatonayree and husband Hendrick, William Aurthur (Farley) Brown and wife Anna, Jimmy Glen Smith and wife Belinda, William Nelson Farley and wife Sherry, Jackie E. (Farley) Phegley, Dorinda Lucille (Farley) Tuttle, and Robert “Bob” Preston Farley and wife Shannon; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Gary D. Krech, Daniel D. Hendricks; a sister-in-law, Nelda F. Murry; first cousins who were raised together as siblings, Henry “Jr.” Winters, Linda Winters, Judy Winters; and many more loving family members and friends.


Luther William Blankenship

Luther William Blankenship of Graniteville passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 11, 2019. He was 73.

He was born on Oct. 28, 1945, a son of the late Archie and Bessie (McAlister) Blankenship.

On July 28, 1972, Luther was united in marriage to Ann Louise (Nash) Blankenship, who survives.

Other survivors include a son, Justin (Heidi) Blankenship; three grandchildren, Haley, Ethan, and Leigha; one brother Ricky (Dorothy) Blankenship of Graniteville; one sister, Bessie (George) Nash, also of Graniteville; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Luther was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Andrea; five brothers, Jerry, Daniel, David, Homer, and Rodney Blankenship; and six sisters, Catherine Hughes, Josephine Polin, Lois Ellis, Thelma Crocker, Elsie Hughes, and Zelda Blankenship.


Karl Ray Allers

Karl Ray Allers of Belleview, formerly of Pilot Knob, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019.  He was 51.

He was born on June 26, 1967 to Jake and Clara Mae Allers, who survive.

Also surviving Karl are three sisters, Deb (Al) Moyers of Henderson, NV, Mary (Joe) Coleman of Dinwiddie, VA, Teresa (Chris) Milles of Melbourne, FL; one niece, Shellie; four nephews, Jason, Matt, Eric, and Fred; eight cousins, Ryann, Ian, Alecea, Lucas, McKenzie, Andrew, Jacob, and Cassidy.

Karl was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pilot Knob.

A life celebration for Karl was on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at 1 p.m. from the Cole family chapel.

Visitation beganTuesday, June 11, 2019 at 11 a.m.

Rev. Scott Edgar officiated the funeral services.

Interment will be in Arcadia Valley Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Preferred Hospice.


John Fredrick Cauley

John Cauley

John Fredrick Cauley of Pilot Knob passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019 in Poplar Bluff. He was 83.

He was born on May 14, 1936 in Banner, a son of the late Otto and Goldie Bell Cauley.

On June 18, 1977 John was united in marriage to the love of his life, Dorris McDilda Cauley who survives.

Also surviving are seven children, Mary Ann Cauley Corey, and Robert Dale Cauley of Tampa, FL, B. Thomas Curry of MI, Teresa Curry of Farmington, Madalyn Shughart of Spring Hill, FL, Vince Curry of Powder Springs, GA, and Kevin Dye of Lady Lakes, FL; 10 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Cauley; two sisters, Frances Moses and Judy Pruett; a brother, Warren Cauley; and one grandchild.

John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring with 24 years of service as Tech. Sgt.

He also worked for the Hillsboro County Florida Sheriffs office.


Earl Wayne Lowe

Earl Wayne Lowe of Black passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at his residence.  He was 73.

Wayne was born in Ironton on Nov. 10, 1945, the son of the late Helen Pearl Lowe Cook and Ondo Cook.

On May 28, 1964 in Salem, Wayne was united in marriage to Brenda Gail Troutman and to this loving union two sons were born.

He was baptized on April 26, 2009 at Pleasant Union United Baptist Church. He worked at Cominco Mine in Bixby for 22 years, then he transferred to the Cominco Red Dog Mine located in Borough, AK, where he worked another 10 plus years until his retirement in 2001.

Wayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, brother-in-law, neighbor and fellow friend to so many. There weren’t many days that passed that he was not working on something from early years of jeeps and racecars to later years of clocks, bicycles, cars, boats and his RV.


Mark Alan Thomlinson

Mark Alan Thomlinson of Pilot Knob passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019 surrounded by his wife and children at his residence in Park Hills. He was 61.

Mark was born on April 12, 1958 in Orange County, CA, the son of the late Herbert “Jewell” and Charlotte “Fern” (Jinkerson) Thomlinson.

On Feb. 14, 1981, he was united in marriage to Hope Marie Owens, who survives.  To this union four children were born, Kristy Grass and husband, Christopher of Festus, Kelly Roberts and husband, Guy of Farmington, Michael Thomlinson of Farmington, and Mark Thomlinson II of Farmington.


Richard Kent Alvers

Richard Kent Alvers of Annapolis passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2019. He was 68.

He was born in Burlington, IA on Sept. 1, 1950 to the late Peggy June (Bailey) Alvers and Carl Winfred Alvers, who survives.

Richard was a U. S. Navy veteran, having served from November 1968 to July 1972.  He retired in 2011 after 19 years with the State of Missouri Department of Corrections as a plant maintenance engineer.    

Motorcycles and cars were his hobby and he entered his Mustang in various area car shows.  Richard was a good husband with a big heart.  He was a devoted family man who loved his children and grandchildren.


Edith Ann Jackson

Edith Ann Jackson died at her home in East Grand Rapids, Michigan on Tuesday,  May 21, 2019. She was 79.

Edith Ann Pearson was born on May 9, 1940, in Arcadia, the daughter of Jesse Pearson and Flora Lashley.

In 1957 she graduated as salutatorian of her class from Ironton High School. She married Belford Darrell Jackson at Columbia, MO, on Dec. 19, 1959. The couple are parents of Dr. Elizabeth Jackson Luce (Paul), Susan Lashley Jackson, and Jeremy Stiles Jackson (Kelly Smith), and grandparents of Jackson and Clara Luce and of Willa and Iris Jackson.
