Gloria “JoAnne” Boyer

Gloria “JoAnne” Boyer

Gloria “JoAnne” Boyer of Arcadia passed away on Sundaym July 8, 2018 at her residence in Iron County. She was 77.

She was born on April 13, 1941 in Richwoods, the daughter of the late Douglas McMahan and Irene (Martin) McMahan.

On Nov. 12, 1960 JoAnne was united in marriage to Martin Frances Boyer, who survives.

JoAnne is also survived by a son, Brian Clarence Boyer of the state of Washington; a daughter, Linda Trebing of Edwardsville, IL; one brother, Vernon McMahan of Bismarck; four sisters, Janet Davis of Farmington, Erma Dennis of Arcadia, Bonnie DeClue of Desloge, Audra McMahan of Potosi; one grandchild, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

JoAnne was preceded in death by her brother, Lloyd McMahan and a sister, Lestie Hayes.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. from Bryson Funeral Home Chapel.

Lela G. Rice

Lela G. Rice of St. Louis, formerly of the Arcadia Valley, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in St. Louis. She was 87.

She was born on Dec. 30, 1930 near Minimum, a daughter of the late Theodore and Alice Miller Brown.

On June 3, 1950, she was united in marriage to Charles Leon Rice, who preceded her in death on April 15, 1995.

To this union was born a son, James Leon Rice, who passed away on April 8, 2014.

Surviving are two grandchildren, Andrew Rice and wife Jan of Arnold, Jamie Rice (Kyle Aleto) of Imperial; three great-grandchildren, Zealand Rice, Kane and Rori Aleto; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Rice of Arnold; a sister-in-law, Margaret Hennessey; two nieces, Elizabeth Gersch and Pam Gillispie; three great nieces, Crystal Crocker (Jeremy), Katie and Megan Gillispie; one great -great niece, Kaylan Crocker; and many other relatives and friends.

Linda “Joanie” Joan Blevins

Linda “Joanie” Joan Blevins of Ironton passed away at home on Sunday, July 15, 2018. She was 66.

She was born on Sunday, Oct. 7, 1951, a daughter of Ira and Georgia Bone Wadlow who precede her in death.

On Oct. 23, 1969, Joanie was united in marriage to Elijah Blevins, who survives.

To this union two sons were born who survive, Matthew Keith Blevins and companion Chrissy Dean and Adrian and wife Suzanne Blevins.

Also surviving is one brother, Tim and wife Lori Wadlow; four sisters, Jeannie Barton and companion Roger Helms, Kay Mauzy, Tarrie and husband Dave Myers, Vicki and husband Darrell Harper; four grandchildren, Ali, Ian, Alexis, and Emily Blevins; and many other loving family and friends.

Preceding Joanie in death are three brothers, Ronnie Wadlow, Clyde Wadlow, and Russell Wadlow; two sisters, Ruby Nash and Barb Browers; and a granddaughter, Adrienne Blevins.

Carl  Alton “Pete” Williams

Carl  Alton “Pete” Williams of Annapolis passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis. He was 79.

Pete was born on August 4, 1938 in Ironton, a son of Paul Charles and Stella Jewell (Miller) Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons,  Carl D. Williams and Peter King; two brothers, Ray and Earl Williams; and one sister, Marilyn Lewis.

On Sept. 27, 1985 in Ironton, he was united in marriage to Patricia Lee New, who survives in Annapolis.

Other survives include two sons and daughters-in-law,  Gary and Tara Williams of Piedmont, and Robert and Kathy Williams of DesArc; two daughters and sons-in-law,  Kaye and Don Gwosdz of Houston, TX and Sandra and Scott Halek of Annapolis; one brother, Roy Williams of Annapolis; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Michael M. Bartlett

Michael M. Bartlett of Des Arc passed away on Monday, July 9, 2018, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis. He was 48.

Michael was born on April 16, 1970 in Chicago, IL to parents Murray Moore Bartlett and Hydrith “Heidi” (Blackburn) Bartlett Pennington.

Michael’s passing will leave a hole in the heart of his family and friends. He was a special person, loving son, father, brother and uncle. He enjoyed and loved his sons and respected his step-father Don. In spare time he watched Nascar racing, fished with his sons and best friend Tim, and enjoyed the company of Tim and Angel Erick and their children.

Michael had worked in factories most of his life. He was of the Christian faith and attended Harvest Baptist Church, Piedmont.

He was extremely proud of having been a past member of Des Arc Fire Department for ten years.

Phillip Roger ‘Wad’ Whited

Phillip Roger “Wad” Whited passed away on July 10, 2018 at his residence.  He was 72.

He was born on March 12, 1946 in Ironton, the son of the late Georgia Ellen “Sis” Whited.

On May 17, 2003, he was united in marriage to Donna Faye Achens, who survives and resides in Ironton.  Also surviving are his children, William Whited and wife, Angie of Arcadia, Debra Dean and husband, Jim of Park Hills, Stephen Whited and wife, Dana of Ironton, Leon Huff and wife, Alicia of Ironton, Kathy Rawlins of Ironton, Billy Joe Huff and wife, Pam of Bismarck, and Amanda Wren and husband, Will of Middlebrook;  two brothers, Fred Whited of Annapolis, and Joe Lee of Pilot Knob; sister, Barbara Crump of Frankclay; sister-in-law, Myrtle Marks and daughter-in-law, Crystal Whited; 24 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Nate Rawlins.

Reldon Glen ‘Mouse’ Barton

Reldon Glenn “Mouse” Barton of Park Hills passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. He was 88.

Reldon was born on Dec. 6, 1929 in Iron County, the son of the late Robert Lee and Cora Della (Flowers) Barton.

Reldon was united in marriage to Elizabeth Jane Barton, who preceded him in death on July 8, 2010.

He is survived by two brothers, Ronald Barton and wife, Virginia of Bowling Green, KY and Wayne Barton and wife, Janice of Ironton; three sisters, Juanita Barton and Thelda Borisch, both of St. Louis, and Betty Hill and husband, Jeff of London, KY; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Reldon was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Jane Barton; his daughter, Pamela Jean Barton;  four brothers, Major Barton, Chester Barton, Sammy Barton, Tony Barton; and his sister, Hazel Pitts.

Funeral services were held on July 10, 2018 at 1 p.m. from Bryson Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Mark Sutton officiating.

Patrick Joseph Hazlett

Patrick Joseph Hazlett of Moberly, formerly of Ironton, passed away on July 9, 2018 at North Village Park Care Center in Moberly. He was 71.

He was born on Nov. 11, 1946 in Ironton. Patrick proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He then worked for Brown Shoe Company and Home Service Oil, both in Ironton. He was a member of the Arcadia Valley United Pentecostal Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Russell and Helen Marie (Coad) Hazlett; grandson, Richard Colt Hazlett; granddaughter, Miranda Hazlett; and two sisters, Rita Browers and Geraldine Rothlisberger.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Betty (Hall) Hazlett; two sons, Richard Patrick Hazlett of Farmington and Brian Hazlett and wife Sarah of Farmington; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brother, Raymond “Bud” Hazlett of Arcadia.

Marion Evelyn Jenkins

Marion Evelyn Jenkins, 95, died Saturday, July 7, 2018, in Fredericktown. She was 95.

She was a long-time resident of Bowie, TX.

Evelyn was born on July 16, 1922, in Hardeman County, TX, the daughter of John Muncie Phillips and Norma Beatrice Linville.

After graduating from Quanah High School in 1940, Evelyn attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, but returned home after a semester.

She worked for the National Farm Bureau, Baker-Hannah and M.E. Moses in Quanah; and the Ford Agency in Amarillo.

On Aug. 13, 1947, Evelyn married Kenneth Jenkins in Quanah, TX. He preceded her in death. On July 19, 1957, she gave birth to a son, Kevin.

After the death of her husband in January 2015, Evelyn moved from her home in Bowie to her son’s home in Fredericktown, along with Kevin’s wife, Brenda, and the couple’s three children.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Lorraine Minshew and Kathleen Bunch.

Virginia “Carolyn” McKie

Virginia “Carolyn” McKie of Middlebrook passed away  on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at her home. She was 71.

She was born Oct. 9, 1946 in Pontotoc, MS, the daughter of the late John Preston and Ida Pearl (Baker) Campbell.

On June 1, 1968, she was united in marriage to Nathan W. McKie, who survives and resides in Middlebrook.

To this union three children were born, Nathan “Nate” McKie, Jr. (Kelli) of University City, Laura Baker (Jeff) of Columbia, and James McKie of St. Louis.

Carolyn is also survived by two brothers, Preston Campbell and wife Melissa, and Tom Campbell both of Pontotoc, MS; her sister, Susan Wann and husband, Bert of Brandon, MS; nine grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
