Roger Cordell McHenry

Roger Cordell McHenry of Ironton passed away Jan. 28, 2016 in St. Louis. He was 82
Roger was a wonderful husband, father, PaPa, brother, son, uncle and friend.
He was born Jan. 24, 1934 in Lesterville, the son of the late Guy and Willie “Bobbye” (Adams) McHenry.
On Feb. 10, 1968, he was united in marriage to his dearly loved wife, Kay Frances Gray, who survives.  To this union three children were born, Kamie Eckert and husband Kent of Chesterfield, Kimberly Bell and husband Jamie of Pilot Knob, and Brett McHenry of Ironton.  
Also surviving is his sister, Marian Loyd of Afton; six grandchildren, Ryan, Kordell, Brock, Kayla, Peyton, and Grant; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Roger’s world centered around his family and he took tremendous pleasure in watching his kids and grandkids grow up, play ball and listen to his stories.

June Haefner

June Elizabeth (Ruppert) Haefner passed away Jan. 16, 2016 in Ironton. She was 90.
June was born on June 18, 1925, the daughter of the late Conrad and Matilda (Kempfer) Ruppert.
On Jan. 17, 1948 June was united in marriage to John Haefner, who preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 1975.  
She is survived by a brother, Robert Ruppert of Ironton, a special friend Jill Elder of Fenton, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Conrad and Matilda Ruppert; her husband, John Haefner; and a sister Katherine Felker.  
June worked as a secretary for US Steel, and most recently owned and operated the Green Roof Inn Bed and Breakfast in Ironton.  June was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ironton.  
A Memorial Service was held on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2015 from The Baptist Home with Rev. Jim Wills officiating.  Memorials may be made to The Baptist Home.

Bruce Ray Christie

Bruce Ray Christie

Bruce Ray Christie passed away on Jan. 17, 2016. he was 32.
Bruce was born on April 16, 1983, the son of Patricia Lynn (Christie) Taylor, who survives.
Bruce is also survived by his son, Corbin Christie; his daughter, Mila Christie; brothers, John Fararro of Fredericktown and Steven Taylor of Marysville; sisters, Debra Nelson of Greenville, Donna Johnson of St. Louis, and Lorelei Christie of Belleview; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Bruce was a 2001 Graduate of Arcadia Valley High School.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016 at 1 p.m. from Bryson Funeral Home Chapel.  Visitation was on Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Orville Oren Kelley

Orville Oren Kelley of Riviera Beach, FL passed away Jan. 6, 2016 in Kenosha. He was 98.
He was born Feb. 19, 1917 in Leeper, the son of the late Julius and Mary (Morris) Kelley.
On Sept. 9, 1940 he was united in marriage to Jewell Grace Eudy, who preceded him in death on May 9, 2009.
To this union three children were born, Orville Medford Kelley of Maple Grove, MN, Jerry Dwayne Kelley of Kenosha, WI, and Debra Susan Kelley of Minneapolis, MN.  Also surviving are seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Orville was preceded in death by his wife, Jewell; a brother, Olin Kelley; four stepbrothers, Raymond Cox, Thomas Cox, Frank Cox, and Rudolph Cox; and stepsisters, Alice Cox and Lola Baker.

Jason Wayne Miller

Jason Wayne Miller of Farmington passed away Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016. He was 39.
He was born Nov. 15, 1976 in Bonne Terre to Jerry and Regina Miller.
Jason was a 1995 graduate of Bismarck High School, worked for the Doe Run Company in Glover for several years, and attended the Des Arc Baptist Church.
Jason is survived by his mother, Regina Miller of Arcadia; a sister, Leslie McCaig and husband Michael of Annapolis; four uncles and three aunts, Glen and Carol Higgins, Steve Kendrick, Mike and Donna Miller, and Larry and Sue Tucker; one niece, Emily; and one nephew, Evan.
Jason was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Wayne Miller on Feb. 5, 2007.
The family will be having an intimate gathering to celebrate the life of Jason at a later date.

Mary Sellers

Mary Sellers, 92, of Boone, Iowa, and formerly of Ironton, died January 5, 2016, at the Boone County Hospital in Boone, IA.  
Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of the Eastern Star Home in Boone with Rev. Dianna Clark officiating.  Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.
Mary Ilene Sellers was born in Boone, IA, on May 12, 1923, the daughter of Edgar and Bessie (Lamb) Anderson.  She graduated from Boone High School in 1940. Mary married Walter John Sellers at the Central Christian Church in Boone.

Thelma Lucille Griffin

Thelma Lucille Griffin

Thelma Lucille Griffin of Farmington, formerly of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2016.  She was 93.
Thelma was born Feb. 11, 1922 in Hogan to the late Lawrence and Alice Pinkley Swaringim.
On Dec. 30, 1978, Thelma was united in marriage to Junior Bud Griffin, who preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 1990.
Also preceding Thelma in death are a son, Darrell Bennett; four brothers, Ernest, Clarence, Marvin, and Duke Swaringim; and three sisters, Leona Jamison, Verna Mae Pratt, and Erma Jean Swaringim.
Thelma is survived by her daughter, Patricia and husband Charles Poinsett of Farmington; one sister, Bernice Liggett of Pilot Knob; one granddaughter, Dana Ward and husband Rick of Arcadia; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.
For many years, Thelma and husband Bud owned and operated the Fort Davidson Restaurant and Hotel in Pilot Knob.

Truman Otis Warren

Truman Otis Warren

Truman Otis Warren of Pilot Knob passed away Jan. 10, 2016 at his residence. He was 68.
He was born March 30, 1947 in Glover, a son of the late Charles and Rosetta Womack Warren.
He was united in marriage to Hattie Johnson and later married Marie McIntyre.
Surviving are four children, Melisa Warren and Truman Warren of Springfield. Roberta Warren of Holts Summit, and Travis Warren of Fulton; one brother, Charles Bud Warren of Annapolis; four sisters, Juanita McDowell of Richland, Kathy Burkhead of Raymondsville, Margaret Orrick of Fredericktown and Dorothy Sutton of Arkansas; 14 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.   
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Edgar “Buckshot” Warren; two sisters, Wilma Littrell and Edna Mae Miller; and a grandson, Issah.
For most of his life he worked in the Pilot Knob Mines and with his brother in the Sawmill Business.

Carl Moody Sheffield

Carl Moody Sheffield was born August 19, 1924 near Lepanto, Arkansas in Poinsett County to the late Joseph Sheffield and Dora Knauss Sheffield.
He was a servant of God as a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather (known as Papa Farm) and great uncle and friend to all he came in contact with. He was an active member and deacon of West Side General Baptist Church while living in St. Louis and Ottery Creek General Baptist Church of Belleview during his retirement years.
He was married Sept. 18, 1943 to Rose Zetta Rogers and soon moved to St. Louis to make a living. They had 64 wonderful years together. Carl learned to be an automobile mechanic and worked for car dealerships and ran his own shade tree business at home. He served for a brief time in the Army right after WWII.

Edna Ruble

Edna Ruble passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015.  She was 94.
She was a longtime resident of Vulcan, who had spent the last several years in residential care facilities in Annapolis and Pilot Knob.
She was born March 20, 1921, in Minimum to William and Sarah (Jackson) Welch.
Edna was married to Earl Ruble on May 25, 1940 in Ironton. He preceded her in death in 1963.
