8th Grade VB wins at Potosi

The Arcadia Valley Lady Tigers 8th Grade Volleyball Team won the Potosi Tournament on September 19. Coach Kim DeMent said, “We came out first in pool play and defeated West County 25-12 and 25-19 in the championship game.”

AV downs Kingston 7-2

The Arcadia Valley Tigers beat Kingston 7-2 on September 3 at Jim Erpenbach Field. Jake Pryor pitched 5 innings and allowed 2 runs(one of them unearned) and 3 hits and struck out 6 batters. The Tigers had 3 errors in the 1st inning. Isaiah Gibbs was the winning pitcher. In 2 innings, he allowed no runs and 1 hit and had 4 strikeouts. In the 1st inning for the Tigers, Hayden Helvey and Jake Pryor singled.

Lady Tigers Tennis stats/coaches’ comments

The Arcadia Valley Lady Tigers Tennis Team lost to North County 4-5 on August 26 at North County. The individual scores were in an earlier newspaper. Coach Elaine Stocum said, “It was a heart breaking opening loss for us. Each team had 4 wins and the # 3 singles set went to a 7-6 tie break and a North County win. Tessa Baker played her opponent game for game in a strong opening set, but lost in the tiebreak. Tessa and her doubles partner won 8-5 in a lengthy # 2 Doubles battle prior to her # 3 singles loss.

Lady Tigers beat Viburnum, Festus

The Arcadia Valley Lady Tigers Varsity Volleyball Team beat Viburnum 25-23 and 25-14 on September 1 at Viburnum. Megan Williams led in kills with 7 and had 5 digs. Briar Johnson had 6 kills, led in stuff blocks with 4, and had 10 digs.

AV Tigers beat Ellington, Bismarck

The Arcadia Valley Tigers Baseball Team, coached by John Inman and Steve Thomas, beat Ellington 15-1 on August 24 at Ellington. Tatum Jones was the winning pitcher. In 5 innings, he allowed 4 hits, 2 walks, and 1 run and had 9 strikeouts.
