AV Golf wins twice

The Arcadia Valley Golf Team with a score of 198 beat St. Pius and Viburnum on April 18 at the Arcadia Valley Country Club. 

Jon Inman was the Medalist with a 43. Par is 36.

Austin Emert and Viburnum’s Blake Jimmerson were Runner-up Medalists with 47s. 

Garrett Rice had a 52, Deavon Eakins had a 56, and Emily Bennett had a 59.

The Arcadia Valley Golf Team, coached by Mike Yates, beat Clearwater with a score of 203 on April 12 at the Arcadia Valley Country Club. 

Jon Inman was the Medalist with a 41. 

Austin Emert had a 52, Garrett Rice and Deavon Eakins had 55s, and Emily Bennett had a 65.

AV Tennis edges Windsor

The Arcadia Valley Tigers Tennis Team edged Windsor 5-4 on April 20. 

The # 1 doubles team of Jared Branstetter and Keegan Hemphill and the # 3 doubles team of Christian Neville and Tommy Whited won their matches.  

In singles, Jared Branstetter, Tommy Whited, and Jason Callahan won. 

North County beat the Arcadia Valley Tigers Tennis Team 6-3 on April 19 at Arcadia Valley. 

In # 1 singles, Arcadia Valley’s Jared Branstetter won 8-3. 

In # 2 singles, Keegan Hemphill won 8-5. 

In # 3 singles, Colton Day lost 4-8. 

In # 4 singles, Christian Neville lost 2-8. 

In # 5 singles, Tommy Whited lost 4-8. 

In # 6 singles, Jason Callahan won 8-2. 

In # 1 doubles, Branstetter and Hemphill lost 7-9. 

In # 2 doubles, Day and Callahan lost 2-8. 

In # 3 doubles, Neville and Whited lost 7-9.

Tigers down Bearcats

The Arcadia Valley Tigers High School Baseball Team beat Lesterville on March 20 at Jim Erpenbach Field. 

Stephen Pursley was the winning pitcher. He allowed 2 hits, 2 walks, 1 hit-by-pitch, and 1 run. He had 5 strikeouts. 

For the Tigers, Trent Russell had 2 walks and 1 RBI. He scored 2 runs. Corbin Rea had 1 walk and scored 1 run. Jake Pryor had 2 walks and 1 RBI. He scored 2 runs. Kolter McBride had 1 single and 1 RBI. He scored 1 run. Isaiah Gibbs had 1 single and 1 double and had 2 RBIs. He scored 2 runs. 

Taylon Jones had 1 walk and 1 single and had 2 RBIs. He scored 1 run. Eli Vandergriff had 1 walk and 1 single and had 1 RBI. He scored 2 runs. Brandon Robbs had 2 walks and 2 RBIs. He scored 1 run. 

Elliot Womble had 1 single and scored 1 run. Luke Savage had 1 single and 2 RBIs. He scored 1 run. Corey Skinner had 1 double and 2 RBIs. Stephen Pursley had 2 walks and 1 double. He scored 2 runs.

Lady Panthers 3rd in State Tourney

The South Iron Lady Panthers Basketball Team beat Prairie Home 61-54 to take third place in the Missouri State Tournament on March 10 at Mizzou Arena in Columbia. 

Ashley Mickan led the Lady Panthers with 26 points. She hit some key free throws down the stretch to keep the Lady Panthers in the lead. 

Also playing important roles in the game were Jada Brooks, who had 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Michaela Ayers, who had 10 points and 9 rebounds. 

Dara Miller had 6 points and 4 rebounds, Hanna Alexander had 4 points, and Callie Miller had 2 points. 

It was a team win because the Lady Panthers cut down on their turnovers, especially in the 1st half, and forced Prairie Home into making a lot of turnovers. 

The Lady Panthers finished an outstanding season with a 24-6 record.

Tigers win two at Bismarck Jamboree

The Arcadia Valley Tigers Baseball Team played three 2-inning games on a cold March 10 in the Bismarck Jamboree and had two ties and one win. 

They tied Bismarck 0-0, with Jake Pryor allowing 1 hit and 1 walk, He had 3 strikeouts. 

Pryor, Trent Russell, and Corey Skinner had 1 single each. 

The Tigers beat Grandview 2-0. 

In the 1st inning, Trent Russell walked and Isaiah Gibbs singled. Tatum Jones hit a sacrifice fly to score Russell. Brandon Robbs doubled to score Gibbs. 

In the 2nd inning, Stephen Pursley and Elliot Womble walked. 

Tatum Jones pitched a scoreless 1st inning and Isaiah Gibbs pitched a scoreless 2nd inning. Jones had 2 strikeouts and Gibbs had 3 strikeouts. 

The Tigers and St. Paul Lutheran played to a 0-0 tie.

Lady Tigers beat Twin Rivers and Clearwater

The Arcadia Valley Lady Tigers Basketball Team beat Clearwater 76-39 in the 1st round of the District Tournament on February 18 at Clearwater. 

Josie Landrum had 13 points, 33 rebounds, and 3 steals. Jaesa Brockes had 13 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals, and 4 assists. Makayla Moise had 11 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists. Jerrika Brockes had 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Katie Whited had 8 points, 4 steals, and 3 assists. Kinsey Phelps had 7 points and 2 assists. Cheyenne Portell had 4 points. Miranda Stirts had 4 points. Haleigh Usher had 4 points. Chelsie Rice had 2 points and 2 rebounds.  

Saxony Lutheran beat the Lady Tigers 72-47 in the District Championship game on February 23 at Clearwater.

Lady Panthers beat Eminence for District

The South Iron Lady Panthers beat Eminence 42-39 on February 23 to win the District Tournament. 

They play Couch on February 28 in the Sectional Tournament.

The South Iron Lady Panthers Basketball Team beat St. Paul Lutheran 54-28 in the 1st round of the District Tournament on February 18 at Viburnum. 

Allie Wilfong led the Lady Panthers with 20 points, 2 assists, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals. Ashley Mickan had 9 points, 3 assists, 2 blocked shots, and 3 steals. Michaela Ayers had 8 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds, and 6 steals. Callie Miller had 4 points and 5 rebounds. Angel Hampton had 3 points, 2 assists, and 2 rebounds. Dara Miller had 1 point, 2 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. Olivia Barnes had 1 point. Jada Brooks had 2 assists, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. Rylee Masters had 2 rebounds. 

The Lady Panthers beat Viburnum 58-32 in the semi-finals on February 20 at Viburnum. 

The Lady Panthers have an overall record of 20-5

AV Tigers 8th grade takes 3rd

The Arcadia Valley Tigers 8th Grade won MAAA Conference and was 3rd in Tournament. The Arcadia Valley Tigers 8th Grade Basketball Team won the MAAA Conference with an 8-1 record and took 3rd in the MAAA Conference Tournament. 

They lost to Potosi in overtime in the semi-finals. 

They beat Ste. Genevieve 50-47 to take 3rd place on January 26 at West County. 

Taylon Jones led the Tigers with 25 points and 6 rebounds. He sat out most of the 3rd quarter because he got into foul trouble guarding Ste. Genevieve’s best player. Carter Brogan had 15 points and 5 rebounds. Cole Jones had 5 points and 2 rebounds. Andrew Tedford had 3 points and 3 rebounds. Jackson Inman had 2 points. Landon Garrett had 5 rebounds. 

After a 1st round bye, the Tigers beat West County 46-30 on January 24.

Tigers Varsity downs Kingston

The Arcadia Valley Tigers Varsity Basketball Team beat Kingston 60-36 on January 27 at J. D. Maguffee Gymnasium. 

Jake Pryor, who scored his 1000th point during the game, led the Tigers with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Austin Wren had 10 points and 2 rebounds. 

Isaiah Gibbs had 7 points and 3 rebounds.

Takota Jones had 7 points and 4 rebounds.

Tatum Jones had 6 points and 4 rebounds. Eli Vandergriff had 6 points and 3 rebounds. Dylan Huff had 3 points and 3 steals.

Bismarck edged the Tigers Varsity 73-72 on January 20 at Bismarck. 

Jake Pryor led the Tigers with 32 points, 16 rebounds, 8 assists, and 4 steals. Austin Wren had 16 points and 2 rebounds. Isaiah Gibbs had 15 points and 5 rebounds. Tatum Jones had 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. Colton Day had 3 points. Takota Jones had 2 points and 5 rebounds. 

Farmington beat the Arcadia Valley Tigers Varsity 87-45 on January 24 at J. D. Maguffee Gymnasium.

SI Panthers win BRL Tourney

The South Iron Panthers Varsity Basketball Team beat Ellington 54-51 to win the Black River League Tournament on January 20 at Ellington. 

LaRon Cornell led the Panthers with 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals. Tim Mayes had 13 points, 2 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists. Garrett Hovis had 10 points and 7 rebounds. Austin Ruble had 9 points. Jake Myers had 3 points and 3 rebounds. Sam Ivy had 2 points, 2 steals, and 3 assists.

South Iron beat Fredericktown 63-44. 

Garrett Hovis led the Panthers with 15 points. Sam Ivy had 12 points and Tim Mayes had 11.
