Deer Season: first weekend harvest exceeds 96,000

Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) shows that deer hunters in Missouri harvested 96,131 deer during the opening weekend of the November portion of the fall firearms deer season Nov. 12 and 13. Of the 96,131 deer harvested, 55,753 were antlered bucks, 8,873 were button bucks, and 31,505 were does.

Top harvest counties for opening weekend were Franklin with 2,041 deer checked, Howell with 1,950 and Texas with 1,939.

Pryor signs with MAC

Arcadia Valley Tiger Senior Jake Pryor signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at Mineral Area College. He plans to pursue a career in conservation. In the spring season of his junior year, he played in 21 games and batted .439. He had 29 hits that included 5 doubles, 1 triple, and 3 home runs. He had 10 walks. He had an 8-3 pitching record with a 1.44 ERA in 48.2 innings. He had 62 strikeouts. He was on the MAAA Small-School All-Conference 1st Team and the Class 3, District 3 All-District 1st Team. His parents are Jason Pryor and Mandy Watson. His grandfathers are James Pryor and Rick Turnbough. His coaches at Arcadia Valley are John Inman and Steve Thomas.

Johnson signs with MAC

Arcadia Valley Lady Tiger Senior Briar Johnson signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at Mineral Area College. BR League All-Conference VB selections announced

Black River League Volleyball All-Conference selections included Lesterville Lady Bearcats’ Maggie Vert, Mya Middleton, and Bailey Myers and South Iron Lady Panthers’ Allie Wilfong and Michaela Ayers. 

All-Conference Honorable Mention selections included Lesterville Lady Bearcats’ Elly Ratliff and Abby Robbs. 

Mya Middleton was selected as the Black River League Player of the Year.

Lady Bearcats win tourney

The Lesterville Lady Bearcats Varsity Volleyball Team won their District Tournament. The Lesterville Lady Bearcats Volleyball Team won their District Tournament by beating South Iron and Leopold.

In the semi-finals, they beat South Iron 25-8 and 25-9 on October 17. 

Maggie Vert led in kills with 9, Abby Robbs had 6 kills, Mya Middleton had 4, and Jadyn Fitzgerald had 3. Bailey Myers had 15 serves, Mya Middleton 13, and Abby Robbs 6. Maggie Vert led in blocked shots with 3. Mya Middleton led in digs with 9 and Elly Ratliff had 3 digs. Bailey Myers led in assists with 27. Mya Middleton led in serve receives with 7.

Lady Tigers 2nd in District

The Arcadia Valley Lady Tigers Volleyball Team played hard and finished 2nd in the Class 2, District 3 Tournament. 

They finished a great season with an 18-7-1 record. They beat Kingston 25-4 and 25-9 on October 17. 

Brianna Landrum led in kills with 7, Jaesa Brockes and Josie Landrum had 5 kills each, Laney Tucker had 4, and Karson Dement had 3. Jerrika Brockes led in digs with 9, Karson Dement had 7 digs, Macey Browers had 4, and Brianna Landrum had 3. Macey Browers led in assists with 20.

Hunter Ed Class set at AV school

A  Hunter Education Class has been set the Arcadia Valley School cafeteria on October 22 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., according to Billy Barton, Protection District Supervisor-SE Region, Missouri Department of Conservation.

Students must pre-register online at mdc.mo.gov.

Bearcats beat Clearwater

The Lesterville Lady Bearcats Varsity  Volleyball Team beat Clearwater 25-16 and 25-15 on September 29 at Clearwater. 

Maggie Vert led in kills with 7 and Mya Middleton and Jadyn Fitzgerald had 4 digs each. Allie Harrison had 11 serves, Fitzgerald 10, Ellie Ratliff 9, and Abby Robbs 8. Middleton led in digs with 10. Bailey Myers led in assists with 21. Middleton led in serve receives with 14.

Lesterville beat North County 25-18 and 25-17 on October 3 at Lesterville.

Lady Tigers down West County

The Arcadia Valley Lady Tigers Varsity Volleyball Team beat West County 25-10 and 25-12 On October 4 at J. D. Maguffee Gymnasium and finished 2nd in the MAAA Small School Conference. 

Their only conference loss was to Valle Catholic. Brianna Landrum led in kills with 13 and had 4 digs. Jerrika Brockes led in digs with 9. Macey Browers led in assists with 22 and had 7 digs. Cheyenne Portell had 2 kills.

AV Lady Tigers Tennis update

Arcadia Valley’s (left to right) Lily Tripp, Madison Bates, and Sidney Tyndall won their matches in the District Tournament. They played on September 26th at Arcadia Valley.  Lily Tripp, Arcadia Valley’s # 1 Singles player, was selected for the 2016 MAAA All-Conference Team.

 

The Arcadia Valley Lady Tigers Tennis Team edged North County 5-4 on September 16 and 19 at North County. 

Lily Tripp won her #1 Singles Match 8-0. Bethany Musser won her #2 Singles Match 8-6. North County won the #3 Singles Match by forfeit. Sidney Tyndall won the #4 Singles Match 8-5. Madison Bates won the #5 Singles Match 9-7. Trinity Chappell lost the # 6 Singles Match 1-8. Tripp and Musser won the # 1 Doubles Match with a 7-2 Tiebreak. North County won the #2 and #3 Doubles Matches.
