Tigers down Bismarck 7-4

The Arcadia Valley Tigers beat Bismarck 7 to 4 in Pool C Play on May 3 at Farmington. 

Jake Pryor was the winning pitcher, allowing the Indians only 6 hits and 4 runs in 6 innings and striking out 7 batters. Pryor had 2 hits and 2 RBIs. 

Tatum Jones pitched a 1-2-3 7th inning and had 2 hits and 1 RBI.

Ninth annual run/walk set for May 21

The 9th Annual Run/Walk For The Park—The Arcadia Valley Sports Complex—is on May 21 beginning at the Iron County Courthouse. 

In the 5K Medal Race, medals will be awarded to the top 3 male runners and to the top 3 female runners. The Age Divisions are 50 and up, 40-49, 30-39, 20-29, 16-19, 13-15, and 12 and under. 

There will also be overall male and female winners. There will also be a 2-Mile Family Fun Walk. Sign-in for both is at 8 a.m. The Race/Run will start at 9 a.m.

AVHS Golf Team qualifies for Class 2 State Sectionals

The Arcadia Valley Tigers Golf Team was 2nd as a team in Class 2, District 1 on May 3 at Terre Du Lac, and qualified for the Class 2 State Sectionals. 

The Tigers’ Christian Crites tied Saxony Lutheran’s Karston Short for Medalist with an 85. 

Dawson Bennett was 3rd with an 87, and Jon Inman was 12th with an 96. Austin Emert had a 110 and Emily Bennett had a 125.

AV Track 7th at MAAA Conference meet at Ste. Gen

The Arcadia Valley Girls Track Team finished 7th on April 29 at the MAAA Conference meet at Ste. Genevieve, and the Boys Team finished 8th.
For the Girls Team, Cassie Sutton was 8th in the 3200 Meter Run with 13:44.25. Melia Ackley was 6th in the 300 Meter Hurdles with 58.21. The Relay Team was 6th in the 4 X 100 and 4 X 200 and 5th in the 4 X 400 and 4 X 800. Lauryn Feller was 7th in the Discus Throw.
For the Boys Team, Jonathan Tevis was 5th in the 400 Meter Run with 56.78. Christian Neville was 8th in the 3200 Meter Run with 10.51.39. The Relay Team was 8th in the 4 X 100 and the 4 X 200 and 7th in the 4 X 400. Sam Williams was 4th in the High Jump with 5’ 10.”

Tigers beat Central

The Arcadia Valley Tigers Baseball Team, with winning pitcher Isaiah Gibbs driving in the tying and winning runs in the 7th inning, beat Central 6-5 on April 29 at Central.
With Central leading 5-4 in the bottom of the 7th inning, Peyton Whited singled and Trent Russell had a bunt hit. Isaiah Gibbs doubled in both runners for a walk-off win. Gibbs allowed 5 runs(3 earned), 8 hits, and 1 walk and had 3 strikeouts.
The Tigers scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. Hayden Helvey and Jake Pryor singled. Tatum Jones reached base on an error and Helvey scored. Clayton Lorenz hit a 3-run home run. Helvey had 2  doubles. Gibbs had another double. Trey Jones had a hit and a walk. Whited had a walk.
The Tigers are seeded 6th in the MAAA Conference Tournament and play Farmington in pool play on May 2.

AV Tigers 5th in MAAA Golf Tourney

Arcadia Valley’s Christian Crites and Jon Inman made the MAAA Golf All-Conference Team. Crites was 5th with an 18-hole score of 84 in the MAAA Conference Golf Tournament on April 25th at Crown Point Golf Course in Farmington. Inman was tied for 7th with an 87.

The Arcadia Valley Tigers had a top-4 score of 365 in the 18-hole MAAA Conference Golf Tournament on April 25 at Crown Point Gulf Course in Farmington.
North County was 1st with 352, followed by Central with 356 and Farmington with 360. There were 8 teams in the tournament.
For Arcadia Valley, Christian Crites, who had the 5th best score and earned All-Conference honors, had an 84.
Jon Inman, who was tied with the 7th best score and earned All-Conference Honors, had an 87.
Farmington’s Nick Westrich was medalist with a 78.
Other Arcadia Valley scores were Dawson Bennett’s 90, Austin Emert’s 105, and Emily Bennett’s 133.

Ellington beat the Arcadia Valley Lady Tigers Softball Team 12-8 on April 4 at the Arcadia Valley Sport Complex.
Baylee Stockmann was the losing pitcher.
In the 1st inning for the Lady Tigers, Maycie Lubbers singled.
In the 2nd inning, Jordan Wadlow doubled. Lyka Shien Salinas walked. Abigail Tiefenauer singled in Jordan Wadlow.
In the 3rd inning, Alex Browers singled. Maycie Lubbers tripled in Alex Browers. Marissa Lantz singled in Maycie Lubbers. Tessa Baker and Jordan Wadlow walked.
In the 4th inning, Alex Browers and Marissa Lantz walked. Baylee Stockmann singled in Alex Browers.
In the 5th inning, Tessa Baker singled. Jordan Wadlow walked. Tessa Baker scored on an error. Abigail Tiefenauer singled in Jordan Wadlow.

The Arcadia Valley Tigers Varsity edged Clearwater 5-3 on April 1 at Jim Erpenbach Field.
Isaiah Gibbs was the winning pitcher. In 5 1/3 innings, he allowed 3 runs, 7 hits, and 3 walks. He had 1 strikeout.
Jake Pryor pitched 1 and 2/3s innings and got the save.
In the 1st inning for the Tigers, Jake Pryor hit a home run.
In the 2nd inning, Trey Jones walked.
In the 3rd inning, Isaiah Gibbs singled.
In the 4th inning, Tatum Jones walked. Trey Jones doubled in Tatum Jones. Peyton Whited singled. Dustin Mounce singled in Trey Jones.

AV Tigers MS baseball team wins tournament

The Arcadia Valley Tigers Middle School Baseball Team, coached by Derek Wilson and Steve Pursley, beat Woodland, Greenville, and Potosi to win the Arcadia Valley Middle School Tournament on April 8 and 9 at Jim Erpenbach Field. Team members not in order are Jaxson Morris, Logan Pannebecker, Nathan Pannebecker, Corbin Rea, Jackson Inman, Carter Brogan, Jacob Gibbs, Jacob Johnson, Landon Garrett, Andrew Tedford, Taylon Jones, Stephen Pursley, and Kolter McBride.

The Arcadia Valley Tigers Middle School Baseball Team, with Stephen Pursley pitching a no-hitter, beat Potosi 13-0 on April 9 at Jim Erpenbach Field to win the Arcadia Valley Tournament.
The other teams in the tournament were Woodland, Greenville, South Iron and West County.
In the 1st inning against Potosi, Stephen Pursley and Taylon Jones walked.
In the 2nd inning, Andrew Tedford and Logan Pannebecker singled. Carter Brogan singled in Tedford and Pannebecker.
In the 3rd inning, Stephen Pursley singled. Logan Garrett singled in Pursley. Andrew Tedford walked. Logan Pannebecker grounded out and Garrett scored. Jacob Gibbs singled in Tedford.
In the 4th inning, Stephen Pursley and Taylon Jones singled. Logan Garrett singled in Pursley. Andrew Tedford singled in Jones. Logan Pannebecker singled in Garrett. Jacob Gibbs singled in Tedford.

AV Lady Tigers win MAAA Small-School Conference

For the 4th consecutive year, the Arcadia Valley Lady Tigers Varsity Basketball Team has won the MAAA Small-School Conference and had an unbeaten conference season.
Adam Waddell has been the head coach all four seasons.
The Lady Tigers beat Kingston 65-26 on February 1 at Kingston to win the conference and finished with a 5-0 conference record.
They have had a 5-0 conference record the last four seasons.
In their win over Kingston, Briar Johnson led the Lady Tigers with 18 points, 10 rebounds, 5 steals, and 2 assists. Kinsey Phelps had 12 points and 4 rebounds. Megan Williams had 8 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 assists. Jerrika Brockes had 7 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists. Josie Landrum had 5 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. Rebecca Buffington had 5 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. Miranda Stirts had 4 points and 2 rebounds.
